Do’s:

We recommend you to use sunscreen factor 30, sunglasses, and a hat, especially during the first 3 - 5 days of your vacation.

Drink a lot of water. You may drink the water out of the tap. Tap water is distilled water gained from sea water and very pure.

Renting a car is recommended, public transportation is not reliable on the island.

Curacao has in general good roads. The island is excellent for sightseeing trips. A road trip through “Westpoint” and Banda Abou is truly worth the effort.

If it’s raining, please drive carefully, because the road gets very slippery.

Just go with the flow, people on Curacao are very relaxed.

In supermarkets, restaurants, shops, and so on you can find the “Que Pasa” guide. In this guide you will find useful information about things to do on the island, such as entertainment, trips, adventures, movies, music, shows, etc.

In the red guidebook for restaurants, you can find detailed information about all restaurants on the island. In almost every restaurant you can find the red guide.

If you would like to taste the local Creole food with the locals go to “Plaza Bieu” in Punda near the local food and fish market and the post office. Plaza Bieue closes at 2 PM. and is very good!.

Don’ts:

Avoid sun bathing between 11.30 AM and 2.00 PM. The sun is at its hottest between these hours and you may risk getting sun burnt. Stay in the shade.

Don’t let the air-conditioning run while you are not using the accommodation. Electricity is very expensive in Curacao and in lots of accommodations you pay for the used energy.

Don’t go snorkeling or diving in areas where boats and jet-skis could be navigating.

Please remember that local flora and fauna are protected. Do not take or buy any products coming from live plants or creatures, such as, Iguanas (Big type of lizard), shelves and coral.

As part of the world wide effort for the protection of marine life, please do not buy or eat any products related to turtles and sharks.
